Ancient Knowledge is a board game that allows players to become ancient builders and preserve knowledge through monuments and artifacts.
Players aim to collect the most victory points by the end of the game.
The game involves creating monuments, learning technologies, archiving knowledge, excavating cards, and searching for new cards.
Monuments slide into the past as the game progresses, and players must manage their knowledge and past effectively.
The game ends when a player has at least fourteen monuments in their past, and the player with the most victory points wins.

Ancient Knowledge Game Overview Ancient Knowledge is a board game where players step into the roles of ancient builders and knowledge keepers. Their goal is to create monuments and artifacts to preserve knowledge and collect victory points. The game is designed for 2 to 4 players, ages 12 and older.
Game Components Each player receives a player board and a 'Timeline' consisting of twelve cards in two rows. Monuments are placed on the timeline, and knowledge tokens are used to represent knowledge's status. Players can also store artifacts and Technology cards on their boards. Lost knowledge represents information forgotten over time.
Setup The game begins by randomly selecting a first player who receives the first-player token. Builder cards are shuffled and dealt to each player, who then chooses six cards and discards the rest. Technology tiles are placed on the table, and technology cards are sorted into level one and level two categories. Knowledge tokens are set up as a central reserve.
Gameplay Phases Each player's turn consists of three phases Action Phase, Timeline Phase, and Decline Phase. Players can take two actions during their turn, choosing from five options Create (building monuments or artifacts), Learn (acquiring technology cards), Archive (removing knowledge from monuments), Excavate (rotating past monuments to get new cards), and Search (drawing a card from the draw pile).
Monuments and Artifacts Monuments must be played on the timeline, and players discard extra cards to place them in specific spaces. Monuments in the first row can be played in the second row when there is already a monument in the first. Artifacts are created on the player's board, with space for only five of them.
Technology Cards Technology cards are acquired from the central display and provide immediate benefits or victory points at the end of the game. When a technology card is taken, it is replaced with a new one.
Archiving Knowledge As monuments slide into the past, they become "Lost Knowledge," which results in a loss of points at the end of the game. To avoid this, players can use the Archive action to remove knowledge from monuments.
Excavation and Searching Players can rotate past monuments to acquire new cards through the Excavate action. Searching allows them to draw a card from the draw pile.
Timeline and Decline Phases The Timeline Phase triggers the effects of monuments and artifacts in the timeline. Monuments in the past do not activate. In the Decline Phase, monuments in the first space of the timeline decline, and any associated effects are applied. Lost knowledge is moved to the player's board.
Game Progression Players aim to collect at least fourteen monuments in their past to trigger the game's end. Once a player reaches this milestone, the game continues until all players have had an equal number of turns.
Scoring and Winning The game concludes with scoring, considering victory points from monuments, effects, technology cards, and monuments still on the timeline. Points are deducted for lost knowledge. The player with the most points wins the game.
