Buddha compared our minds to the lake; when cluttered with thoughts, they resemble muddy water. Just as the mud in the lake settled naturally over time, our minds also require time to calm down on their own. Buddha emphasized that calming the mind doesn't demand strenuous effort; it merely necessitates providing the mind with time and space to naturally settle. With patience, the mind will find its way to a state of serenity.
