Despite his patience, the water remained unsettled, making it unfit for Buddha to drink. Consequently, he returned empty-handed, explaining the situation to Buddha.

After some time had passed, Buddha instructed the disciple to return to the lake for water once more. This time, the disciple succeeded in collecting clean water. Curious about the remarkable transformation, the disciple inquired about the change to Buddha. In response, Buddha eloquently drew a parallel between the disciple's experience and the state of our minds.

Buddha compared our minds to the lake; when cluttered with thoughts, they resemble muddy water. Just as the mud in the lake settled naturally over time, our minds also require time to calm down on their own. Buddha emphasized that calming the mind doesn't demand strenuous effort; it merely necessitates providing the mind with time and space to naturally settle. With patience, the mind will find its way to a state of serenity.
